                                        What is Lead Sheet?

Lead sheets are one of the types that are made into sheets of lead metal and produced as desired and targeted according to the usage area. Lead plates, whose general usage areas are insulation, restoration and area coating, are included in terms of heavy metals due to their density. They are suitable materials to be used for many years without deteriorating in their structures, thanks to their configurations and their high poles against obstructions.

                                     Lead Plate Production Stages

Lead plate production begins with the melting of lead ingots at temperatures of 400 °C and above. Melted lead is poured into molds according to the size to be produced. The lead, which is ready to be rolled in the molds, is rolled flat until it reaches the desired thickness with the help of cylinders with 10 tons of pressure power. The lead plates, whose rolling process is finished, are cut in standard dimensions of 100 cm (width) x 200 cm (length) and wrapped in rolls.

The standard size for lead plates to be used in radiology is 100 cm x 200 cm. The standard size of lead plates produced for restoration and mosque dome coverings is 100 cm x 160 cm. In Lead Plate applications, waste (overlap - seam allowance) occurs. While dimensioning the boards, the width and length are determined to keep these waste rates at a minimum level. While the shielding loss (riding share) in radiology is 2-3%, this rate rises up to 6% as the width and length of the lead plate gets smaller, and this increase creates extra costs for the projects.

The most important factor determining the quality of lead plates is the purity of the lead ingots used in production and the integration of the equipment used in the production line with today's production procedures. As Radon, our products are obtained by processing the ingots with the highest purity in our production line, which makes precise measurements electronically. Our lead plates are 99,991 – 99,998 % pure in TSE standards. Our standard plate dimensions are 1000 mm x 2000 mm. We have plate production from 1 mm to 10 mm thick.

You can contact us for your lead plate dimensions according to your needs and wishes.

Lead Plate is in the first place among the products used for radiation insulation.

Radiation applications are activities subject to legal regulations in which radiation is used consciously and in a controlled manner. These regulations; It covers the rules and standards for the provision of radiation safety and the safety of radioactive sources for the provision of radiation protection against occupational, medical and public exposures, and determines the scientific, technical and administrative requirements for the safe use of radiation sources. The most important of these requirements is the necessary insulation to prevent the spread of radiation from the environment.

Lead Plate Usage Areas

Since lead is an easily machinable metal, it has been used in various forms in many fields from ancient times to the present. Nuclear technology is constantly encountered in our daily lives in the fields of health, industry and military. In addition to the conveniences that this technology has provided to human life, it has also brought its harms. One of the measures to be taken to protect public health from these harmful effects is the radiation isolation of these x-ray producing areas. Since lead plates are among the products that provide the best insulation against radiation, the areas where they are used the most are radiation protection applications. Other usage areas of the plates are;

With Radiation Isolation
Mosque Dome Coverings
Historic Building Restorations
Battery Production
Boiler Manufacturing
Radiation Protective Equipment
Sound Insulation
